So Many Looks!

So Butters has been growing her hair out since last summer. We managed to keep it untangled for so long, but about a month ago we gave her a bath and that was the end of it. If you don't brush her thoroughly after bathing then the hair will get tangled and matted. The thing is though, at a certain point her fur is just more absorbant than any towel. So you cant dry her and brushung becomes a huge pain. So she got incredibly matted. Probably 40% of her was matted. Poor girl. So we had to have her shaved. I was hoping she would last until may when it was warmer but she was just too matted. Here are the before and after pictures of Butters' new hairdo.

Its hard to believe its the same dog! I like her all fluffy but I appreciate her short fur as well. She seems more like a dog and without all that fur you can see her adorable little puppy face. When we put her in front of a mirror she jumped at it and barked. I don't think she recognized herself. nyway, at leaast this way she'll be ready for the summer heat and she'll be easy to clean.

Logos!

So I took 4 graphic design classes in community college and while they were challenging  and caused a great deal of stress, I still loved those classes. But since finishing those classes, I have had to take other classes that are required for a graphic design degree but aren't necissarily graphic design. It feels like its been so long since those graphic design classes and I find myself often questioning if I even want to do i still. But every so often I get an opportunity to flex my design muscle and remember that I do enjoy graphic design and persuing a degree in it is a good move. Recently Christy asked me to make a logo for a mock fashion company she made for one of her FIDM classes. Logos are tough because you start from scratch usually so you have to try to grasp the character or the feel of whatever company or thing you are designing for. But this opportunity gave me another chance to show myself that I'm making the right decisions. And since I haven't blogged in a while I thought I'd take a look back at all the logos I've made in the past couple years. (of course they're all for fun/education)

This was the very first logo I ever made in my design class
for my own personal stationary and stuff

I later revisted it and changed/improved it.
Its still sort of a work in progress but I like where its going

This one I did for a computer graphics class.
It's more illustration than design but I thought it was pretty nifty

This one was just for fun, to pretend Butters was runnign for public office

I also revisited it later and made it better

This one was for the family vacation shirts. Its sort of a logo....

And finally this is the one I made for Christy

Now, if only if I can devise some sort of plot to get paid to do this...

My New Aquarium!

I actually got this a while ago. After having plague wipe out half of my feesh I finally was able to focus funds towards decorating the tank. Fish rocks are not easy to find, and from what I could tell, are not cheap. But theres a fish store in Dublin that has everything fish related and they have a lot of nice sized rocks at very good prices. Hopefully the guppies and tetras that survived will make a good home of it.

Big News!

Today, March 1st 2010 I was accepted to Sacramento State University!

I've been thinking about how there are events in everyone's lives that changes everything. Marriage, a baby or even a new career. In my relatively short life the biggest changes have been going to Jr High school then to High school and then to Jr college. But still those were fairly small changes. Going to a University will be big. I'm going to have to move away from home and do some growing up. It's definitely scary but I'm also excited. This will be the biggest change of my entire life so far. I'm kind of sad about leaving home but who knows, maybe I'll be back. haha. But for now, I have 181 days left till I begin my fall semester at Sacramento State University!
